Rainer has been advising on corporate and commercial law for over 30 years, including decades as an equity partner in a US law firm and a UK law firm, for which he was responsible for the German business for eight years and was a member of the firm’s Global Board. Biography

Christian has >25 years of relevant experience, most recently gathered as partner in a Global Top 100 law firm where he was heading the firm’s Germany based Finance & Projects practice group, led the Germany based Construction & Engineering team and was also member of the firm’s global Climate & Sustainability core team.

Rainer has been advising on corporate and commercial law for over 30 years, including decades as an equity partner in a US law firm and a UK law firm, for which he was responsible for the German business for eight years and was a member of the firm’s Global Board. He is one of the leading capacities in Germany for advising emerging growth companies as well as on venture capital and tech M&A transactions.

Christian has gained strong industry experience in the construction and energy sectors and worked on numerous major projects domestically as well as internationally, primarily in the power sector, both conventional and renewables and since 2014 in particular offshore wind. He advises on all kind of procurement models and project related matters, such as joint venture agreements, EPC(/I or /M) contracts, design/engineering contracts, supply, off-take, O&M/LTSA, transport, installation and logistics agreements, securities and other project related documentation. The range of his advice and experience covers the whole project life-cycle, from early project planning and structuring activities, tender and procurement strategies, drafting and negotiating the project documentation to ongoing support in contract and claims management and representing clients in any disputes that arise, in particular in settlement negotiations and international arbitrations.

Moreover, Christian has developed a deep understanding of key issues in the area of climate change & sustainability, focusing on impact investing strategies and transactions involving asset managers, family offices as well as non-profit organizations. This had already been a focus of his work prior to his return to Germany in 2012, while working in numerous jurisdictions across Asia, being based in India (5 years), Singapore (8 years) and China (2 years) and including five years as co-founding partner in a boutique-type asset management firm with offices in Singapore and Switzerland.
