FOCUS AREAS

We embody the essence of a boutique law firm by being dedicated to delivering solution-focused support with a personalized approach in carefully selected areas where our expertise and extensive networks offer tangible advantages to our clients. In this pursuit, we have identified three primary focus areas that align seamlessly with our core strengths: Construction  •  Emerging Companies, Growth & Internationalization  •  Climate & Sustainability / Impact.

CONSTRUCTION

We provide construction advisory services and representation in disputes to a broad range of stakeholders engaged in major construction projects, in particular developers, contractors, investors and lenders, and especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors, both in Germany and internationally.

We strive to be the steadfast legal partner that supports our clients' construction projects from inception to completion and beyond. We do this based on decades of experience dealing with the complexities of drafting and negotiating construction contracts and related project documents for major projects, as well as risk identification and mitigation, claims management, and dispute resolution.

Recognizing that the construction industry demands comprehensive expertise and specialized support across a broad range of issues and jurisdictions, we also maintain and work closely with an international network of legally independent professionals and businesses who are providing relevant expert services as well as flexible project services, in particular in the area of contract and claims management.

Through our specialist experience and collaborative approach, we enable our clients to identify and mitigate risks effectively, manage their construction contracts diligently, navigate complex claims and even disputes scenarios with confidence, and protect their profits.

emerging companies, growth & internationalization

We advise entrepreneurs and investors at all stages of their business, including pre-formation, planning, formation, venture capital, debt financing and growth through additional equity financing (private equity), M&A transactions, strategic partnerships and capital market transactions.

We have a particular focus on the technology, life sciences and renewable energy sectors – home to the industries that drive the global growth and success of our clients' investments.

Our credentials include some of the fastest-growing young companies that the German economy has produced in their respective sectors over the past two decades.

Internationalization, too, is a crucial strategy for further business growth and increased profitability. Structuring and negotiating international transactions or collaborations is usually complex and multifaceted. Venturing into international markets and managing or, where required, restructuring existing international operations, presents a myriad of legal complexities and challenges. Navigating these complexities and challenges requires an understanding of diverse legal systems, cultural norms, and business practices.

Having lived and worked as advisors, interim managers and even entrepreneurs in numerous jurisdictions across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, as well as in the US, we have developed strong international expertise and cultural awareness. We are also well-versed in coordinating support and collaborating with independent professionals and businesses who are operating locally and provide crucial support in their respective jurisdictions.

CLIMATE & SUSTAINABILITY / IMPACT

We support businesses, investors (esp. asset managers and family offices), non-profit organizations and municipal as well as rural communities engaged in, or willing to engage in, initiatives and businesses that drive significant and scalable positive impact on the environment and society.

We provide our clients with legal advice and representation relevant to the legal conditions within which they operate, their transactions and financial strength, compliance with laws and regulations, and, where necessary, the legal enforcement of their rights. We also help our clients effectively communicate their messages as well as grow relationships that support their goals and values and align with their strategies for long-term success.

We have a proven track record in climate & sustainability / impact. Our involvement in this area started in 2006, when one of founding partners took on a leading role in the conceptualization and structuring of a number of impact investment initiatives. These included in particular one aimed at deploying decentralized water disinfection systems across South- and Southeast Asia and one focusing on advancing development in rural India by supporting social enterprises and other important enablers in relevant sectors, such as education and housing.
